2018 has been a truly memorable year in terms of filmmaking: I directed my first feature, ‘X’, which is now well on its way to becoming a finished product (check out the stills of Terence J Corbett, Jennifer Hayden, Andrea Pizza and Johnny Byrom below).
It’s amazing how quickly a year can pass by & yet how much you can achieve in 365 days. This time last year, I had only just finished the expanded script, which would turn my 45 minute/hour long idea into a feature length project. By the time February came around, I had cast dozens of actors and was even shooting with some of them a month later in March. April & May were spent prepping some of the bigger sequences, which I shot over the months of June, July, August and September. In November, I shot some pick-ups with Jennifer Hayden and even managed to cast a handful of new actors for these sequences.
It’s now the final day of the year and I have a 2 hour 20 minute film on the editing timeline. What an incredible journey! However, I wouldn’t have achieved any of this without the help of so many people - actors, extras, crew, family, friends, my partner Miranda, backers on Indiegogo, and so on and so on...indie filmmaking can be tough but you good people made it a little easier and so here’s a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped me get X “in the [digital] can”!
In the new year I’ll be working on a number of post-production tasks - the sound design, re-recording the dialogue, refining the edit and working on the grading of the picture. Once all of these production tasks are complete, the aim is to have a screening of the film in late 2019 & then it’ll be sent off to film festivals, where it will hopefully be picked up for distribution. There really is a lot to look forward to in 2019!
Besides working on ‘X’, 2018 also saw the online release of my short film, ‘Step’, and the ‘Cafe Diagnosis’ behind-the-scenes documentary, which was written & narrated by Terence J Corbett. You can view both films via the links below:

And that’s it for 2018. I hope you all have a wonderful new year!
