About

Independent filmmaker (writer / director / cinematographer / editor) based in Greater Manchester: over the course of my career I have created fiction films, factual films, music videos, video essays, actor showreels and training videos.

In regards to fiction films, I am interested in creating work that is highly personal, yet also universal: I often find myself attracted to stories that contain themes of love, longing, isolation, loneliness, heartbreak, regret and rebirth (see: 'Cold Desert', 'Windowpane', 'Round In Circles', 'Turning', 'Cuddling A Monster', 'Over', 'Wa/onder', 'Step' and 'Locked').

In 2021, I released my first feature film, 'X', which stars Terence J Corbett, Jennifer Hayden, Andrea Pizza and Johnny Byrom. The film was shot at various locations across Greater Manchester, the Lake District and London. It is available to rent via Amazon Prime (UK & US) and Vimeo On Demand (Worldwide).

UK Film Review said of 'X': ""Duggan delivers a powerful film which communicates the sharp edges of relationships which photoshopped pictures on Tinder can’t vocalise...an incredibly nuanced piece of work. If X does indeed mark the spot, dig here." (Click for FULL REVIEW).

Alongside my personal film work, I have also collaborated with a number of other creatives: I was the cinematographer & assistant filmmaker on the independent feature films 'The Raven On The Jetty' (Dir. Erik Knudsen, 2013), 'Cleft Lip' (Dir. Erik Knudsen, 2017) - both of which are available on Netflix (Europe) - and 'Going For Goldeneye' (Dir. Jim Miskell, 2017).

I gained my BA (Hons) in Film & Media Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University (2006) and Masters degree in Fiction Film Production from the University of Salford (2008).
