Pre-Production: A Director's Perspective

Factual: This 15-minute, behind the scenes, documentary highlights an independent filmmaker's approach to the planning and preparation of the feature film, 'Cleft Lip' (Dir. Erik Knudsen, One Day Films, 2018). The documentary blends footage shot on the iPhone 5s, iPhone 7, iPad Mini,

GoPro Hero4, Canon 5D MK II & Leica SL. Audio recorded with an iPad using the RØDE app.

One Day Films: "This is an intimate reflection on the challenges and opportunities by a director committed to independent, micro budget filmmaking."

'Cleft Lip' is currently in post-production. "What happens when fertility becomes a commodity in a fractured society? Oedipus reborn. Sophocles’ classic of classics adapted for the 21st Century by Erik Knudsen into a contemporary tragedy about the unravelling of the most fundamental of relationships in society; that between a father, a mother and a child. Cleft Lip is set in the context of a world where donor eggs and sperm are freely traded as increasing numbers of people are having to resort to fertility treatment as a consequence of social changes, individual decisions and biological imperatives."

'Cleft Lip' is available to buy/rent on VOD: Amazon, iTunes, Google Play & Vimeo.

Documentary conceived, directed, filmed & edited by Mark Duggan (2017).
